A writer, columnist, and diarist, he’s a graduate of a male Catholic secondary school and Polish Studies at the University of Warsaw. Author of many novels, including Nagrobek z lastryko, Trociny, Masakra, Sonnenberg, as well as of collections of short stories, and a travel-essay trilogy about Hungary composed of Gulasz z turula, Czardasz z mangalicą and Langosz w jurcie. He also wrote a book about Edmund Niziurski a favourite author of his youth, thanks to whom he decided to start writing himself. His last book is Dziennik hipopotama, a record of his two-year struggle with culture and art, and life and its lack of meaning. For more than a quarter of a century, he was an editor and reviewer for Gazeta Wyborcza, as well as a columnist for the Duży Format magazine. Since the end of 2020, he has been a full-time columnist for the Newsweek Polska weekly  He is currently working on a travel-historical book about Normandy and Brittany. He lives in Warsaw.
