Political sociologist and Post-Doc researcher at the European University Viadrina in Frankfurt (Oder). Her work focuses on civil society and culture activism in Ukraine and Eastern Europe, democratization and democracy promotion, sociology of Europeanization, populism and conflict studies. Her dissertation on donor strategies and cooperation patterns of external democracy promotion in Ukraine was awarded with the Klaus Mehnert Prize 2016 by the German Association for East European Studies. In 2019, she was awarded with both the Brandenburg State Award for Excellent Academic Teaching and the Brandenburg Postdoc Award for outstanding research in the area of the humanities and social sciences. She is a board member of the German Association for East European Studies. In addition to her academic work, Susann Worschech volunteers as an activist in different political initiatives concerning Ukraine and Foreign Politics. She is a member of the German Green Party and a member of the municipal council of Berlin-Neukoelln.
