Director, translator, theatrologist. Born in Poland, Adam Nalepa grew up in Germany, where he made his directorial debut with Thomas Bernhard's Comedian at the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus. In 2007, on the occasion of the 80th birthday of Günter Grass, he directed the world preview of The Tin Drum at the Wybrzeże Theatre in Gdańsk. Moreover, he did: Un-Divine Comedy, The Witches of Salem, Mary Stuart and Pharaoh among others in Gdańsk. He collaborates with theatres in Poland and Germany. He directed Chłopcy (trans. The Boys) by Grochowiak at Kraków's Stary Theatre, Tomasz Man's Sex Machine at Drama Laboratory at Warsaw, and Mały Książę. Końcówka (trans. The Little Prince. The end) based on Saint-Exupéry's novel as well as the Vocal-Acting Study diploma of Lorca's Krwawe Gody (trans. Bloody Mating), both at the Musical Theatre at Gdynia. He recently collaborated with the Jaracz Theatre in Olsztyn (Nasza Klasa [trans. Our Class] by Tadeusz Słobodzianek and Kamień (trans. The Stone) by Marius von Mayenburg) and he also directed a diploma called Antigone. Oedipus by Sophocles at the National Academy of Dramatic Art in Warsaw. Nalepa is a co-founder and artistic director of the BOTO Theatre in Sopot, where he regularly stages (incl. Green Man, Nord-Ost, Journey to Buenos Aires). For 11 years, he has been co-creating the Festival and Artistic Residence of the Documentary Theatre Sopot non-fiction as one of the curators. He is a multiple winner of theatre awards, including the City of Sopot (Sopot Music 2014), Splendor Gedanensis, Gazeta Wyborcza's Storm of the Year (2014). He has also been awarded three times the Marshal of the Pomeranian Voivodeship and three times the City of Gdańsk for Staging of the Year.
