Łukasiewicz
Born in 1948 in Warsaw. She studied foreign languages and philosophy at the University of Warsaw. In the years 1976-1989, she participated in the activities of the democratic opposition. As a translator and literary critic, she collaborates with many publishing houses and cultural institutions. Her translation work includes M. Frisch, H. Hesse, Chr. Lavant, J. Roth, G. W. Sebald, P. Süskind, R. Walser, U. Zürn, Th. W. Adorno, J. Habermas, F. Nietzsche, G. Simmel. She has published books of essays: Robert Walser (Czytelnik 1990), Rubryka pod różą (Znak 2007), Jak być artystą. Na przykładzie Thomasa Manna (Więź 2011), Dziwna rzecz - pisanie (Więź 2012), Pięć razy o przekładzie (Karakter 2017), My, czytelnicy (Więź 2021). She is the winner of the Literatura na Świecie award, the PEN-Club award, the Paweł Hertz Award granted by the Zeszyty Literackie journal, The Calw Hermann Hesse Prize, the Polish-German Award, the Kazimierz Wyka Award, and the Boy-Żeleński Translation Work Award.
