She was born in 1965 in Frankfurt am Main. She is a novelist and a journalist. Some of her novels have been published in Poland: The Swimmer, Die hellen Tage, Heißester Sommer ( published by Czarne publishing house, translated by Elżbieta Kalinowska). She has received many prestigious awards for her work: the German Book Prize, the Bettina von Arnim Prize, the Mary Cassens Prize and the Adalbert von Chamisso Prize. In the summer, the Polish translation of her latest novel, Sterben im Sommer, will be published by Czarne publishing house and translated by Elżbieta Kalinowska.
